Hi Friends!
Here we are back at school, and it's time to think about the BATTLE of the BOOKS! Battle of the Books is a fun team activity for 4th and 5th grade. If you love to read, and you enjoy trivia and remembering details, this is the team for you. There are 15 different books that the team members will read, and we will practice our knowledge of each of them during team meetings in the Media Center after school. I read a lot of them over the summer, and there is a wide variety of genres -- historical fiction, science fiction, fantasy, realistic fiction, and adventure! The list can be viewed here: NC Elementary Battle of the Books List 2021-2022 The twelve (and only twelve!) top competitors on our team will be going to the district competition in March. Below is a Virtual room that contains all of the titles using NC Kids Digital Library along with checkout instructions, if you wish to check out an e-book or e-audiobook! (And yes -- audiobooks count!) Be sure to click on the room, so you can see the whole thing.

Hello to my 4th and 5th grade students! Hey! Are you interested in the Battle of the Books? If you love to read, have a good memory for detail, and have a bit of a competitive streak, this might be the team for you! There are 15 titles (all fiction) to read. The district competition will be in March, and we will meet weekly to practice starting in October at the latest. It's a lot of fun I know it's early, BUT the summer is a great time to start reading some of those Battle of the Books titles. They are all great books, and I am working my way through them myself. You can also read them as e-books or (my personal favorite) audiobooks! An easy way to get through some of them is to use the NC Kids Digital Library. You can check out e-books and e-audiobooks using your student number. I will be setting up a page to make it super easy very soon, and will add it to this blog. The list for Elementary is below. We will try to meet in September to start working as a team.
Hello to our WHES BoB Team!
We will be meeting every Wednesday up until the competition in March. Be sure to come to the hall across from the Makerspace. I have afternoon duty for about 15 minutes, and after that, we can all head to the Media Center. You all are doing a great job keeping up with the reading! Be sure to review your titles and authors -- that is a very important part of answering the questions. :) Below is a link to get to the NC Digital Kids Library for online and audio copies of the BoB books. You will need to choose "Iredell County Library" and use your student ID to access these titles. https://nckids.overdrive.com/collection/1097358 |
